NEW IN 2027: Rip Roarin' Falls

New in 2027, Rip Roarin' Falls shatters records and splashes into Carowinds! Ascend the towering timber and prepare to feel the splash when you plummet from the tallest log flume drop in the world.

After boarding a boat with seven fellow explorers, you’re swept along the rushing river that winds through a long-abandoned lumber mill. Your boat climbs the first hill before rotating backward and plummeting down the world’s tallest reverse drop for back-to-back, backward airtime moments.

Then you ascend the towering structure and face the tallest water ride drop in the world - a 100-foot Mega Drop that sends you hurtling down the falls at 50 mph, ending in a massive splashdown that’ll keep you cool in the Carolina sun.

Ready to brave the drop and feel the splash at Carowinds?

The minimum rider height for Rip Roarin’ Rapids is 35 inches when accompanied and 41 inches when unaccompanied, making it perfect for families.

A boat carrying eight explorers winds through a narrow, S-shaped river channel surrounded by lush green pine trees, boulders, and rustic landscaping. In the water, a small beaver is perched on a wooden dam near the river's edge, enhancing the abandoned lumber mill theme.

Explore the Long-Abandoned Lumber Mill

The locals mutter rumors, but few are brave enough to know if they’re true — are the woods haunted by the lumberjacks of the past? Or is something else the source of the lumber camp’s roarin’?

If you believe the rumors, two brothers — Frederich and Johann Holz — worked the Carolina logwoods in the 18th century, eager to make their fortunes and desperate to make names for themselves. Their logging efficiency and skills eventually led to the creation of The Holz Brothers Logging Company.

Having built a meager logging camp, complete with an open-air sawmill, the brothers attempted to increase productivity with new methods and technologies. However, not long after the construction of the multi-level buzz saw and towering log flume, the mill was mysteriously abandoned, and all operations ceased.

Today, the camp is deserted, but some still swear that the flume is operated by somebody — are you daring enough to know who?
