Safety Starts Long Before the Ride Begins

Every ride at Six Flags undergoes extensive inspection and maintenance procedures designed to meet or exceed manufacturer requirements and industry standards.

Our safety program includes multiple layers of review and oversight. In addition to daily inspections conducted by park teams, attractions and operations are regularly evaluated by:

• State ride inspectors, where applicable
• Insurance inspectors

• Six Flags corporate safety professionals
• International Ride Training operator training and evaluations

Ride safety relies on many factors, including knowledgeable, well-trained team members.

From ride operators to maintenance technicians, team members receive extensive training on attraction operations, safety protocols, emergency procedures and guest communication. Many positions require specialized certifications and ongoing skills development to ensure teams remain prepared and informed.

Our team members are empowered to focus on safety first, every time. If there is ever a question about a ride's operation, our procedures prioritize caution and thorough evaluation before placing an attraction back in service.

Why Ride Restrictions Matter

Every ride is engineered with safety systems designed to protect guests throughout the experience. Because each attraction features unique ride dynamics, restraint systems and seating configurations, specific height, weight, and physical eligibility requirements are necessary for safe operation.

We know reaching the height requirement for a new ride is a milestone many young guests eagerly anticipate. While waiting can be disappointing, those standards exist for an important reason. They help ensure restraints fit properly and that guests can maintain the appropriate riding position throughout the experience. Depending on the attraction, factors such as mobility limitations, casts, prosthetic devices, strength, range of motion or other physical considerations also affect ride eligibility.

These requirements are carefully established based on the design of each attraction and are intended to help create the safest possible experience for every guest. Even if a guest has ridden a similar attraction elsewhere, they may not meet the requirements for a particular ride.

Ride-specific information is available at each attraction, at the park's Ride Information Center or Guest Services office, and on each park's website. Guests should carefully review all posted ride requirements and health advisories before riding. Certain attractions will not be suitable for individuals with specific medical conditions, recent injuries or other health considerations. While our team members are available to answer questions, guests are responsible for making informed decisions about whether a ride is appropriate for them.

Safety Is a Shared Responsibility

While Six Flags is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ride safety, guests also play an important role.

Amusement rides involve inherent risks, which is why it is critical for guests at Six Flags to:

• Follow all posted ride requirements and restrictions
• Listen carefully to instructions from ride operators
• Properly use all safety restraints and equipment
• Remain seated and follow ride rules throughout the experience
• Exercise good judgment while visiting the park

Guests who fail to follow ride rules or our Code of Conduct, including requirements regarding loose articles such as cell phones, keys, bags, and other unsecured items, may be removed from attractions or ejected from the park. Loose articles can become projectiles during a ride and pose a serious safety risk to riders and bystanders. These guidelines exist to protect everyone and ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all.

Just as every attraction has specific rider requirements, every guest must consider their own health and physical condition before deciding to ride. While our team members are trained to help guests understand posted safety information, they will not be aware of individual health concerns that could affect a rider’s experience. If you're not feeling well, have experienced discomfort on similar or less extreme attractions in the past, have recently or within the last year undergone a medical exam or procedure, have taken medication within the last 72 hours, or have a medical condition that may be affected by the forces of a ride, the safest choice is to sit this one out. Knowing your limits and making informed decisions helps guests protect themselves and those around them.
