Physics Days

May 1, 2026

Join us for Physics Day, an exciting STEM-focused experience combining real‑world science with the thrills of Six Flags Great Adventure. Students will explore physics concepts through hands‑on challenges, interactive activities, and exclusive educational programming inside the park.

Highlights include the Annual Egg Drop Challenge, where students design and build a device to safely transport an egg during a thrilling drop, testing creativity, physics, and engineering skills. The day also features a Meet the Engineer STEM presentation, giving students the chance to learn how roller coasters are built and what a career in engineering looks like from Gerald Frasier, the Construction/Project Manager at Six Flags Great Adventure.

Bring physics to life at Physics Day! Through engaging competitions, interactive learning experiences, and exhilarating rides, students will see science in action. This unique event makes physics both fun and memorable, an opportunity they won’t want to miss.

    Data Collection

Several different smartphone apps may help in data collection and analysis while in the park. Suggested apps are Physics Toolbox by Vieyra Software, and another is phyphox by TWTH Aachen University.

Physics Toolbox has a rollercoaster mode built in, and phyphox can create an experiment by combining the altitude and accelerometer sensors. This will only work for phones that have a barometer. Some phones do not have this sensor. If using a smartphone, it must be stored in a secure pocket for the entire duration of the ride. Devices may not be held in hand.
