Conservation Days

Conservation Days
Discovery Kingdom Conservation Days highlight our park’s beloved animals and the conservation work supporting their wild counterparts. Each Conservation Day, we partner with a wildlife conservation group to raise awareness about their critical work. All proceeds from our Conservation Day events go to the partner organization.
Our Conservation Day events feature educational activities, animal appearances, animal care specialist talks, animal art, and prize drawings! All proceeds from our Conservation Day events benefit the partner organization that we are supporting on the day of the event.

3/14: National Learn About Butterflies Day
We welcome you to Rainforest Trail to learn all about butterflies and the important role that these beautiful insects play in ecosystems across the world. All proceeds from this event will be donated to The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation.

6/6: World Ocean Day
Join us for an early celebration of World Ocean Day! World Ocean Day is an annual day of awareness and a call to action for protecting our oceans and all its inhabitants.

6/20: World Giraffe Day
World Giraffe Day is celebrated annually in June. This day of awareness was created by the Giraffe Conservation Foundation to celebrate and educate the public about the tallest land animal in the world. World Giraffe Day coincides with the summer solstice, otherwise known as the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere.

7/11: Shark Awareness Day
Shark Awareness Day focuses on educating the public about the important role that sharks play in their ecosystems, and challenging common misconceptions about the ocean’s top apex predator. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Shark Allies.

8/8: Big Cat Day
Big Cat Day celebrates our park’s big cats, which are members of the Panthera genus. We aim to raise awareness about the conservation issues faced by tigers and lions in the wild, as well as how we can help protect these species.

10/10: International African Penguin Awareness Day
International African Penguin Awareness Day is celebrated on the second Saturday of October each year and aims to raise awareness of this critically endangered species that lives off the coast of Africa.

10/24: Wolf Awareness Day
Wolf Awareness Day is a celebration of Wolf Awareness Week, which occurs in the third week of October annually in the United States. Wolf Awareness Day recognizes the critical role that wolves play in ecosystems as a keystone species and raises awareness of their conservation story. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the California Wolf Foundation.
