While the events differ slightly, they have a lot in common: costumed characters roaming the midway, a Trick-or-Treat Trail stocked with candy for the little ones, and just enough “spooky” to feel festive without a single genuine scare.
Kids are encouraged to show up in their favorite costume and strut their stuff at the Costume Contest, one of the most beloved traditions of the season — we've seen everything from tiny superheroes to entire family theme costumes. Beyond the contest, there's pumpkin decorating, mask-making crafts, and toe-tapping live shows like the Skelebration Dance Party, all set against a backdrop of your favorite rides, still running in full daytime sunshine. Each Oktoberfest day traditionally kicks off with a Keg Tapping Ceremony, led by our Oktoberfest Mayor (or a lucky guest), setting the tone for a day of stein-raising, brat-eating, polka-dancing fun.

Fog rolls into the midways, costumed creatures lurk in Scare Zones included with your general admission, and our premium, pay-to-panic Haunted Mazes test the nerve of even the bravest guests.
If Haunted Mazes aren't your thing, there's still plenty to love: live Halloween-themed shows, roaming performers, and seasonal food and drink menus full of wickedly good dinner options and creepy cocktails. And yes, your favorite coasters are still running — somehow, they're even scarier after dark.
A word of caution: our nighttime Halloween events are intense and generally not recommended for children under 13.
