Big Changes Coming to The Boardwalk as Six Flags Great Adventure Opens Its Spring Season
Six Flags Great Adventure opens to the public March 28 and today it announced a major transformation of The Boardwalk, the park’s reimagined take on a classic shorefront escape. With additional details to be released soon, the 2026 project is expected to open late spring and will include new ride experiences, refreshed dining and additional enhancements.

Spring is almost here, and Six Flags Great Adventure is getting ready to open its gates for another exciting season. With springtime events, returning safari experiences, and early enhancements taking shape around the park, guests will find plenty to look forward to as the 2026 season gets underway.

New in 2026: A Fresh Boardwalk Experience Is Taking Shape
Guests will notice significant activity throughout The Boardwalk, as the area begins its transformation into a refreshed, reimagined experience for 2026. This season, Six Flags Great Adventure will unveil an updated Boardwalk featuring new ride attractions, classic boardwalk food and drink, games, and more. Currently slated for late spring, the refreshed area is designed to bring the timeless summer charm of the New Jersey shoreline together with high‑energy thrills for guests of all ages.
Full details will be shared soon, but guests will begin to see this work taking shape throughout the season.
The Boardwalk is the latest project in a multi-year investment plan, with additional enhancements taking place across the park, including continued construction on Great Adventure’s new‑for‑2027 coaster, with the first sections of track arriving earlier this month.

Opening Day, March 28 featuring the NEW Safari Spring Break Celebration, March 28 – April 12
Opening weekend also brings the launch of the Safari Spring Break Celebration, running March 28 through April 12. This limited‑time spring event brings animal encounters, themed entertainment, and immersive photo opportunities right inside the amusement park.

This includes newly installed track sections on El Toro for a smoother ride experience, improved Wi‑Fi for more reliable connectivity, and refreshed dining locations offering greater convenience and new menu selections.
