ThunderhawkA Dorney Park Classic

Riders plummet down the hill of a wooden roller coaster.

Thunderhawk

First it was called The Coaster, but now this classic wooden coaster takes flight through a figure-eight under a steel giant. This family favorite roller coaster is the oldest in the park, helping create “First Roller Coaster” family traditions in the Lehigh Valley since its inception in 1923. The 80-foot climb up the chain-lift hill offers its riders a historic view of what was once the ride’s traditional out-and-back layout. Over, under and through the coaster’s wooden frame, the trains will take you to a top speed of 45mph before turning around over the midway to bring you safely back to the station. This coaster has been making memories for over 95 years and through some much needed TLC, Thunderhawk will be making memories for many more years to come. Thunderhawk may be one of the oldest coasters in the Northeast, but it’s jam-packed with hills, thrills and a whole lot of history.
