Six Flags Over Texas has officially kicked off its 2026 season, and it’s a milestone year — the park is celebrating its 65th anniversary season as the oldest Six Flags theme park in the world. Guests can look forward to an exciting lineup of new entertainment, special events, park enhancements, a brand-new ride, and plenty more surprises. Here’s a look at everything new in the park for 2026.

New Coaster in 2026: Tormenta Rampaging Run

Making its debut later this year, Tormenta Rampaging Run will be the tallest, fastest and longest giga dive coaster in the world. The more than 300-foot coaster will break six world records and redefine the skyline and the thrill-seeker experience. The historic new attraction will tower over a brand-new Spanish village, Rancho de la Tormenta, located in the park’s Spain themed area.

2026 Season Events & Festivals at Six Flags Over Texas

The 65th anniversary season is full of special events, festivals and seasonal celebrations for all ages to enjoy:

Spring

  • Feb. 28 — Opening Day
  • March 12 - 22 — Spring Break Week with expanded show lineup

Summer

  • May 16 — Hurricane Harbor Arlington opens with family attractions including the new Splash Island
  • May 21 — Daily operation begins
  • July 3 - 4 Star Spangled Nights with more fireworks and patriotic entertainment celebrating the United States Semi quincentennial, America 250

Fall

  • Sept. 12 - Nov. 1 — Fright Fest presented by Snickers
    • NEW Fright Fest exclusive entertainment will be offered on select days this fall
  • Sept. 12 - Nov. 1, weekends Tricks and Treats and Oktoberfest

Holiday Season

  • Nov. 21 - Dec. 30 Holiday in the Park
    • NEW Holiday in the Park exclusive entertainment will be offered on select days this winter season
  • Dec. 31 — New Year’s Eve Celebration

Ride Enhancements and Park Improvements

Several beloved attractions, classic restaurants, landscapes and more are getting a fresh new look this season, complete with enhanced theming around the park and improved guest experiences. This includes:

  • Mr. Freeze
  • Batman
  • El Aserradero (log flume)
  • Runaway Mine Train
  • Silver Star Carousel
  • La Fiesta de las Tazas
  • Runaway Mountain
  • Six Flags and Texas Railroad
  • Renovations to first impression areas, retail and restaurant locations
  • Improvements to aesthetics such as landscaping, paint and signage

These enhancements pay tribute to the rich history behind the park’s most iconic features, while introducing improved reliability, elevated theming, and an even more immersive guest experience.

Southern Palace Theatre: Fully Renovated Premier Venue

The largest enhancement of the anniversary year is the complete renovation of Southern Palace Theatre, transforming it into the premier indoor performance venue at the park. Improvements include:

  • New seating for enhanced guest comfort
  • Upgraded audio, lighting and production systems
  • Improved guest flow and interior design
  • Increased capacity for higher caliber entertainment

New Entertainment for 2026 at Over Texas

Six Flags Over Texas’ entertainment for 2026 is jam packed with brand-new shows, world famous acts, and returning fan-favorites, making it the largest new entertainment lineup in its 65-year history:

  • NEW — Gazillion Bubbles Show (March 14-22) at Southern Palace Theatre
    • Family-friendly theatrical experience featuring bubble artistry and upbeat music.
  • NEW — ThePerondi’s Stunt Dog Experience  (April 3-May 3, weekends) at Southern Palace Theatre
    • High-energy rescue dog stunts, agility feats and family comedy.
  • NEW — Western Daze (summer, select days) at the Texas Arcade
    • A new marionette show inspired by classic western showmanship.
  • NEW — Celebrate! (June, select days) at the Southern Palace Theatre
    • A musical revue featuring six decades of hits in honor of the anniversary.
  • NEW — Miss Cameo Kate’s WesternBurle Q Revue  (summer, select days) at the Crazy Horse Saloon
    • A lively western musical with singers, dancers and comedic flair.
  • NEW — The Swelltones (summer, select days) near Johnny Rockets
    • A vocal group performing 1950s doo-wop blended with contemporary favorites.
  • NEW — Brad Ross International Star Illusionist (July 4-August 9, select days) at Southern Palace Theatre
    • A mesmerizing magic show with cutting-edge tricks and masterful illusions.
  • Texas Justice (summer, select days) on Texas Street
    • The long-time fan favorite returns bigger than ever with expanded stunts, effects and a new performance location.

Experience Six Flags Over Texas History

Six Flags Over Texas is celebrating the history of the park in style this year through the new 65th Anniversary Museum on Smith Street near JB’s Smokehouse that will debut later in the season. Longtime fans and history buffs alike will enjoy taking a trip down memory lane with park history, memorabilia and more.

And if you’ve ever dreamed of leaving your mark on the park itself, now’s your chance. Guests can become part of Six Flags history with custom, name-engraved pavers that will be installed near the Silver Star Carousel in Star Mall. These commemorative pavers start at $125 and are available for purchase online. An installation ceremony is planned for later this year — so your name could soon be a lasting piece of the park’s legacy.

Food and Drink Upgrades Around the Park

New additions to the dining menu for 2026 include:

  • NEW — Texas Corndogs location will replace Texas Taco restaurant near Crazy Horse Saloon, offering new hand-dipped corn dogs, spiral French fries and more, all available on the Dining Pass
  • Pull-a-part bread with cinnamon sugar at Los Dulces and Etienne’s
  • Smoked chicken wings at JB’s Smokehouse, seasoned in-house and available on the Dining Pass
  • The new Outlaw Dog with a jalapeño and cheese sausage, also offered on the Dining Pass
  • New desserts at Smith Street Ice Cream Parlor such as sundaes, banana splits, handmade waffle cones and extreme milkshakes
