Bakunawa may not open until next year, but its presence is already being felt far beyond the gates of Six Flags Great Adventure.
This week, Six Flags launched a large-scale street poster campaign across New York City and Philadelphia, bringing the excitement surrounding the park's record-breaking new coaster directly to some of the Northeast's busiest urban centers. In partnership with Posterize Media, the campaign features 200 large-format posters strategically placed throughout both cities, creating a bold and eye-catching presence designed to spark curiosity about what's coming to Great Adventure in 2027.
The posters can be found in high-traffic locations, including Midtown Manhattan and Philadelphia's Chestnut Street corridor, putting Bakunawa in front of commuters, residents, and visitors who may not have even been thinking about roller coasters during their daily routines.
For those unfamiliar with the project, Bakunawa is set to become Great Adventure's most ambitious roller coaster yet. Rising 382 feet above The Boardwalk and reaching speeds of 100 mph.
According to Ryan Eldredge, Director of Sales & Marketing for Six Flags Great Adventure, the goal was to bring the anticipation surrounding Bakunawa directly to the communities that make up a significant portion of the park's guest base.
The installation process was completed this week, with members of the Six Flags team on-site documenting the activation through photos and video.
As construction continues and anticipation grows, the street poster campaign serves as another reminder that Bakunawa is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about coaster projects in the country. Whether you're spotting posters in Manhattan, Philadelphia, or following construction updates from Jackson, excitement for Great Adventure's next record-breaker continues to build.
Guests looking ahead to the ride's debut can also take advantage of the park's current 2027 Season Pass sale, which includes unlimited visits and limited-time bonus benefits for passholders who purchase or renew by September 7, 2026.
