The Thrill Capital Of Texas
In the late 1950s, Angus G. Wynne, Jr., a Texas oil man, had a dream of a new form of family entertainment. He imagined theme parks that would be large in scope – even bigger than Disneyland – but closer to where people lived and therefore more affordable and easier to visit. Mr. Wynne also wanted his parks to have an emphasis on thrilling rides and family fun. Little did he know that this idea would one day become Six Flags Theme Parks.
Today, Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, is home to more than 100 rides, shows, and attractions, including 15 world-class roller coasters like AQUAMAN: Power Wave, New Texas Giant, and Titan.

Taking History by the Horns in 2026
We’re taking history by the horns with six world records! The defining thrill of 2026 will be at Six Flags Over Texas with the opening of Tormenta Rampaging Run – the tallest, fastest, longest, first-and only giga dive coaster in the world! This one-of-a-kind thrill can only be found in our new Spanish village, Rancho de la Tormenta.
As riders ascend to the lift hill’s peak, they are filled with a sense of anticipation before plunging into a record-breaking 95 degree beyond vertical drop, complete with sharp turns and other exhilarating drops that replicate the thrill of the Running of the Bulls.
