Three Steps to Creating a Fright Fest Zombie
How we make the most frightening creatures you'll ever meet
Our scare zones, streets, and haunted houses are filled with hundreds of creepy ghouls, zombies, and monsters. With the help of outrageous costumes, horrifying makeup, and startling movements, we create some of the most shocking creatures you’ll ever meet.
1. Auditions help us find the best zombies in town.
At the end of summer, we held auditions to find the most horrifying scare actors around. Our actors had to show our judges their darkest stares, most intimidating screams, best undead zombie walk, and any specialty talents. The top performers were then taken through rehearsals to learn how to scare you.
2. Characters go through behavior training to learn how to startle you.
Our new zombies then toured the park to seek out the best hiding spots and learned how to interact with you to make you scream – whether it’s stalking you across the way or lunging out from the shadows to surprise you. Our ghouls were told that their goal is to give you the most fearful experience possible as you wander through the scare zone or haunted house. They will interact with you based on how you react – the louder you scream, the more they will taunt you, and if you run, they will chase you!
3. Detailed makeovers give our actors the final terrifying touches.
Each night as the park transforms into Fright by Night, our monsters are all backstage undergoing a complex costume and makeup process. Talented wardrobe designers have picked out the most tattered zombie attire, bright trickster clown outfits, and bloodstained demon clothing. Our makeup artists also use heavy coverups to give our characters colored faces, disguised prosthetics, bloody lesions, colored contacts, sharp teeth, and other creepy details. The entire visual transformation process takes an average of 45 minutes, and then they’re released into the park.
While our actors will do everything they can to frighten you, they will never touch you, and we ask the same of you in return. Also note that if you feel too uncomfortable, please ask our ghouls to kindly back away and they will find another victim to terrorize.
