- Stay in your vehicle

- Do not bump the car in front of you under any circumstances

- Do not touch or feed the dinosaurs (and they will not touch, or feed on you)
Meet our Dinosaurs!
Maiasaura
- Pronounced: my-ah-SORE-ah
- Name Meaning: Good Mother Dinosaur
- Diet: Herbivore/omnivore
- Lived: 75-80 million years ago
- Size: 4 Tons – weighed as much as a hippopotamus
- Fun Fact: Unlike most dinosaurs, Maiasaura would remain with their offspring after birth, giving them food and protection.
Riojasaurus
- Pronunciation: ree-oh-hah-SORE-us
- Name meaning: Rioja Lizard
- Diet: Herbivore
- Lived: 220-228 million years ago
- Size: 30 feet long – the same length as three alligators in a row
- Fun Fact: Unlike other long-necked dinosaurs, Riojasaurus could not raise itself up on its hind legs since its legs were all the same length.
Anchiceratops
- Pronunciation: an-key-SERRA-tops
- Name Meaning: Near Horned Lizard
- Diet: Herbivore
- Lived: 70-74 million years ago
- Size: 6 meters long – about the same size as a shipping container
- Fun Fact: Unlike many of its relatives (like the Triceratops), Anchiceratops lived in marshlands that were green and humid.
Tyrannosaurus Rex
- Pronunciation: tie-RAN-oh-sore-us Rex
- Name meaning: Tyrant Lizard King
- Diet: Carnivore
- Lived: 65-85 million years ago
- Size: 12 meter long – the same as 3 cars laid end to end
- Fun Fact: T-Rexes were extremely smart and had brains more than twice the size of other carnivores of the time.
Dilophosaurus
- Pronunciation: die-LOAF-oh-sore-us
- Name meaning: Two-Crested Lizard
- Diet: Carnivore
- Lived: 175-200 Million years ago
- Size: Weighed 700 pounds – the same as a full vending machine!
- Fun Fact: Dilophosaurus is the official State Dinosaur of Connecticut.
Dsungaripterus
- Pronounced: Sun-ga-rip-ter-us
- Name Meaning: Junggar Basin Wing
- Diet: Piscivore (ate fish, shellfish, etc.)
- Lived: 100-145 million years ago
- Size: 10 foot wingspan – about 1 full car length
- Fun Fact: Dsungaripterus’s unusual, upturned mandibles (jaws) were useful for finding and pulling out shellfish from soft beach sands.
Velociraptor
- Pronunciation: vel-OSS-ee-rap-tor
- Name Meaning: Swift Robber
- Diet: Carnivore and occasional scavenging
- Lived: 70-74 million years ago
- Size: 3 feet tall – about the same size as a turkey
- Fun Fact: Velociraptors are known for their speed and could run at over 40 miles per hour!
Pachycephalosaurs
- Pronunciation: pack-i-SEF-al-oh-sore-russ
- Name Meaning: Thick headed Lizard
- Diet: Herbivore
- Lived: 65.5-100 million years ago
- Size: Over 900 pounds – as heavy as a grand piano
- Fun Fact: Pachycephalosaur skulls are over 9 inches thick, more than 30 times thicker than a human skull!
Coelophysis
- Pronunciation: seel-OH-fie-sis
- Name meaning: Hollow Form
- Diet: Carnivore
- Lived: 190-225 million years ago
- Size: Only weighed 50 pounds
- Fun Fact: Like modern day birds, Coelophysis had hollow bones, which meant that it could run very fast – up to 30 miles per hour.

Pteranodon
- Pronunciation: tuh-ran-uh-don
- Name Meaning: Toothless Wing
- Diet: Piscivore (Fish, shellfish, etc.)
- Lived: 70-100 million years ago
- Size: Stood 6 feet tall – the same size as a Christmas tree.
- Fun Fact: Pteranodon was the first pterosaur (flying reptile) found outside of Europe
Types of dinosaurs
- A SAUROPOD was a large, four legged dinosaur that usually ate plants and leaves. What kind of animals that are alive today act like sauropods?
- THEROPODS were two legged dinosaurs that were carnivores. As predators, they would hunt other dinosaurs. Can you think of any therapods?
- RAPTORS were a type of therapod (two-legged carnivores) that had a specific type of hooked claw on its foot. That claw was retractable and still exists on some birds
- PTEROSAURS were types of flying lizards that lived at the same time as dinosaurs, but weren’t actually dinosaurs themselves. How many Pterosaurs can you find in Dino Off Road Adventure?
