Six Flags White Water Opens for Summer!
Southeast's largest water park ready to make a splash May 24
The tell–tale signs of summer are presenting themselves to metro Atlantans with each passing day – warmer temperatures, backyard barbecues and the end of the school year quickly approaching. But another major sign that summer has arrived is just around the corner –literally– with Six Flags White Water opening for the season on Saturday, May 24.
"Six Flags White Water is an award–winning, affordable destination for families to visit this summer," said Park president Melinda Ashcraft. "This will be another great season for the park that's brought summer fun to so many local residents throughout the years."
On opening day, the park is hosting the Atlanta Duck Derby to support the Special Olympics of Georgia. Twenty–five thousand ducks will be dropped into the Little Hooch and one lucky duck will cross the finish line as the winner. The guest who has adopted that duck will receive a big screen TV. For more information, or to adopt a duck, individuals may visit www.atlantaduckderby.com.
Six Flags White Water is the Southeast's largest water park with more than 20 attractions and 50 slides. Thrill rides include Tornado, a six–story funnel that is sure to get the heart racing, and Cliffhanger, which is one of the tallest water rides on the planet. Cliffhanger takes guests down a nine–story free fall to create quite a big splash at the ride's end. Six Flags White Water is also home to three interactive kids areas, where families and children of all ages can cool off during the hot summer.
A season pass to the park is still available for $59.99, the lowest price of the season, and this pays for itself in less than two visits. Main gate admission prices are $36.99 for adults and $26.99 for children 48" and under. Children age two and under receive free admission.
Six Flags White Water was voted one of the nation's top 10 water parks by industry leader, Aquatics International, for the 07–08 year. The park is open daily from May 24 – Aug. 10 and open weekends from Aug. 16 – Sept. 14.
