Back To School Supply Drive
Six Flags Guests Receive Over 50% off Main Gate Admission
By Donating School Supplies to KidSmart for Thousands of Local Kids
Eureka, Mo. — July 25, 2013— For the fourth year, Six Flags St. Louis is supporting KidSmart in their efforts to get thousands of local students ready for the upcoming school year by having a school supply drive August 5 -9, 12 & 13. On these dates, guests who bring 5 or more school supplies to Six Flags St. Louis’ front gate will receive a one-day general admission ticket for just $26.99. Each year more than 90,000 students in the St. Louis area lack the basic school supplies they need, like pencils, paper and crayons, due to a lack of financial resources. The Back To School Supply Drive gives guests a great end of summer value while helping these students get ready for the school year.
Six Flags asks guest to bring 5 school supplies, new and in their original package, from the KidSmart top 5 “most needed items” list which includes paper, pencils, crayons, markers and glue. KidSmart will distribute the supplies through teachers from qualifying schools who shop at the KidSmart Free Store once a month. After shopping, teachers distribute the materials directly into the hands of the kids in need. Donations from individuals and businesses help keep the shelves of KidSmart’s Free Store stocked.
Since opening in 2002, KidSmart has distributed $29 million in free school supplies to St. Louis, St. Louis County and rural area students in need. Last year, KidSmart collected 425,000 new school supplies overall, including over 30,000 supplies from Six Flags St. Louis, and raised $85,000 in financial support for St. Louis kids. In order to qualify to shop at KidSmart, a teacher must work at a school where 70% or more of the children are on the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program.
A one-day admission to the Coaster Capital of Missouri allows guests to enjoy all of the parks rides and shows including the new Boomerang, as well as Hurricane Harbor.
