New Shows and Returning Thrills on Tap for 2012

Six Flags Over Texas Opens March 3

Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, kicks off the 2012 season with a Texas-sized collection of thrilling rides and entertainment, including an award-winning roller coaster and two new highly engaging shows.  The 2012 season is packed with exciting special events that have become tradition for Six Flags Over Texas park-goers to enjoy, such as Spring Break, presented by WONKA® NERDS®; Festival Latino; Fright Fest; and Holiday in the Park.

With more than 100 rides, shows and attractions, Six Flags Over Texas remains the premier travel destination for affordable family fun.  Among this year’s highlights, the park is unveiling two all new shows.  iLuminate™ is a groundbreaking performance featuring state-of-the-art costumes equipped with Electroluminescent (EL) wire and LEDs to provide a full sensory experience for guests. Park-goers will also enjoy a fun-filled physical comedy act, chock-full with slapstick and plenty of laughs called AGA-BOOM. Both shows will run daily June 9 through August 12.

“We are excited about our new entertainment lineup and know how much our guests look forward to our diverse show offerings,” said Steve Martindale, Six Flags Over Texas park president. “Also, it feels good to get back to our roots, since this park was the first to offer Broadway-type shows at a regional theme park.”

Ultimate thrills can easily be found for the entire family because of an impressive line-up of 13 jaw-dropping roller coasters, headlined by the award-winning Best New Ride—New Texas Giant—and a special area for the little thrill seekers—Looney Tunes, USA. Six Flags’ famous cast of characters, including Mr. Six—the ageless, dancing, rater of fun—will also be on hand beckoning guests to “Have a Six Flags Day!”

To kick off the 2012 season and show appreciation to guests, the park is offering a special online ticket price for Opening Day weekend, presented by Lowe’s.  General admission tickets may be purchased on the park’s website for $19.99, plus tax, and are good for either Saturday, March 3 or Sunday, March 4.

Thrill seekers looking for savings all year long can purchase a Season Pass, priced at just $59.99, plus tax, each when you purchase 4 or more.  Guests can also purchase a Play Pass for $56.99, plus tax– the same price as a one-day admission ticket.

Six Flags Over Texas opens on Saturday, March 3.  The park will be open weekends through May13, plus daily for Spring Break, March 10 through March 18.  For more information, go to sixflags.com/overtexas.
