Six Flags officially announces community outreach program.
Six Flags, Inc. [NYSE: SIX] announced today the launch of Six Flags Friends, a series of programs throughout the Six Flags family of parks created to make a difference in communities by encouraging local involvement, supporting the mission of various non-profit organizations, and bringing the thrill of Six Flags to children and families across North America.
Each year, Six Flags donates hundreds of thousands of tickets to various local charities and organizations. The launch of Six Flags Friends will allow the company to build upon these existing relationships and outreach efforts by developing more cohesive partnerships, implementing new programs and introducing new national organizations throughout the Six Flags network.
"The primary initiative of Six Flags Friends is to create programs that will present exciting platforms for educational and social awareness and in turn mobilize a movement", said Jessica King, Director of Six Flags Friends. "Six Flags provides thrilling entertainment for millions of guests each year. Six Flags Friends will extend our product outside our gates and into surrounding neighborhoods."
Six Flags Friends will kickoff its efforts with charitable fundraisers, volunteer days and celebrity appearances through the summer, followed by a national walk-a-thon in September.
