Take "A Walk In The Park" to Help Cure Kids' Cancer

Six Flags Friends Hosts Annual Walk-a-thon to Raise Money for Pediatric Cancer

Cure Kids Cancer and Six Flags Friends, the philanthropic arm of Six Flags, Inc. are pleased to announce "A Walk In The Park", a unique event taking place at 12 Six Flags locations on September 6 and 7, 2008.  The walk-a-thon will focus on raising money and awareness for pediatric cancer to benefit children's hospitals throughout the nation.

Six Flags will open their gates earlier this weekend for the 2K walks .  Participants will enjoy a fun, family-friendly morning filled with entertainment, refreshments and a chance to win exciting prizes including 2009 Six Flags Season Passes, a Nintendo Wii Gaming System and tickets to the 2008 American Music Awards.

Additionally, Six Flags Friends is offering a free ticket to anyone who registers to walk and raises $100 for the cause online by September 4, 2008.  After September 4, 2008, participants must raise $250 to be eligible for a free ticket, but will have the opportunity to purchase a discounted daily admission ticket valid for the day of the walk.  A portion of all walk discounted ticket sales will be donated back to Cure Kids Cancer.

Local children with cancer will serve as walk Ambassadors, reflecting the broad demographics of children with cancer, as this disease is no respecter of age, gender, socioeconomic background or national origin.  All funding raised at each park will be donated to the local children's hospitals in the surrounding area that helped treat the 12 Ambassadors.

"As a pediatric cancer survivor, I understand the struggles these kids have to endure and "A Walk In The Park" is a way to capture the desire Cure Kids Cancer has to help children battling cancer enjoy the wonders of childhood as we take the steps necessary to find cures for pediatric cancers," said Jami Brinton, Director of Cure Kids Cancer.

"'A Walk In The Park' is the first of many Six Flags Friends programs that will provide an opportunity for our guests and employees to give back with the excitement and thrill that is Six Flags' signature," said Jessica King, Director of Six Flags Friends. "By opening up our gates for important causes like this, we hope to make a positive impact on the surrounding Six Flags communities by offering an outlet to unite."

Together, Six Flags Friends and Cure Kids Cancer will merge everyday carefree smiles with hope, anticipation and dreams of one day creating a world where all children and families can live free of cancer.  To learn more or to register for "A Walk In The Park" visit www.walkintheparks.org.
