Bigger and Better than Ever: Hurricane Harbor Opens for
The water park opens on Saturday, May 11
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor opens for its 30th Anniversary season on May 11, 2013 and the park looks brighter and fresher than ever. The 2013 season launches the beginning of a multi-year park enhancement project, beginning with the debut of two new adrenaline-pumping water slides— Tsunami Surge and Typhoon Twister, slated to open in early summer.
Guests to Hurricane Harbor will immediately notice new improvements this year with bright, vivid colors on many of the popular slides, improved walkway areas and additional food locations. The park’s newest additions will appeal to all avid water thrill seekers and are the perfect complement to the park’s roster of over 40 rides and attractions, more than any water park in North Texas. Tsunami Surge will take guests on an adrenaline-packed ride down a 68-foot enclosed tunnel before launching them toward the ultimate wave, a 40-foot wave-styled slide that offers riders a zero-gravity experience as they surge to the top of the slide and then glide down into a landing pool. A different type of thrill awaits those who take a spin on Typhoon Twister. Guests race through a tunnel and into a bowl-shaped slide where they will enjoy multiple whirly spins before zooming through a corkscrew exit and into a splash pool.
“We’re very excited about the improvements and the new thrill slides our guests will enjoy this season,” said Steve Martindale, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor park president. “This water park has been the long-standing premier water park destination for families for years. We are committed to offering the most innovative, and exciting water slides to keep guests refreshed and entertained all summer long.”
Opening weekend hours are 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12. The park will be open weekends until daily operation begins on Saturday, June 1. For more information on Hurricane Harbor and its operating hours, please visit sixflags.com/hurricaneharbortexas.
