Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Opens New Dive Bomber Extreme Slide
100 Girl Scouts will "earn" a special patch after taking on the 7-story drop tower slide
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the largest water park in North Texas, will open its newest attraction—Dive Bomber—with the help of 100 Girl Scouts. The Scouts will work toward earning their “Bomber Patch” and be the first to jump onto the ride and officially yell, “Bombs Away!”
Dive Bomber is an all-new 7-story drop tower slide with a breathtaking 80 degree drop and featuring the Proslide Skybox launching capsule. Once guests reach the top, they climb into the capsule and wait with bated breath as the floor beneath their feet drops unexpectedly. Riders then plummet into a free-fall, with speeds of up to 20 mph, before dropping into more than five feet of water.
“Dive Bomber is a great addition to our already impressive lineup of extreme water rides,” said Steve Martindale, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor park president. “The unexpected drop makes this slide quite unique and one guests are going to really enjoy.”
On Friday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m., 100 local Girl Scouts will help officially open the ride and earn their “Bomber Patch.” Six Flags is proud to be a part of the Girl Scouts’ 100th Anniversary celebration—2012 Year of the Girl—with special events at Six Flags Over Texas and later this summer at Hurricane Harbor.
Dive Bomber is the latest addition to the water park’s more than 27 rides, slides, and pools across 47 acres. Hurricane Harbor offers something for everyone - families can enjoy the fun water adventures of Hook’s Lagoon or relax at Boogie Beach, while thrill seekers take on extreme slides like Mega Wedgie, Sea Wolf, The Black Hole, and now Dive Bomber!
