Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor Hosts School Supply Drive Benefitting Mission Arlington
Exchange school supplies for discount admission August 13-17
Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor are giving area school kids a great start with a school supply drive to benefit Mission Arlington. According to research from the Kids in Need Foundation, nearly 15 million U.S. children live below the poverty line. In addition, teachers end up spending $500 to $1000 per year of their own money to provide supplies for their students. Monday, August 13, 2012 through Friday, August 17 guests who donate supplies, to help Mission Arlington’s upcoming school supply drive, will receive a coupon for a discounted admission ticket.
Park visitors who bring six or more school supplies to Six Flags Over Texas during the designated time period will receive park admission for half off a general one-day admission ticket. Guests who visit Hurricane Harbor and bring six or more supplies will receive $10 off their general one-day admission price.
“Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor are proud to team up and help one of our biggest community outreach institutions, Mission Arlington.” said Steve Martindale, Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor park president. “A lot of deserving students will benefit from the generosity of our guests.”
Last year Mission Arlington provided supplies to 9,000 students. In addition to the school supply drive, the organization’s various ministries helped more than 400,000 people in 2011. Mission Arlington has been serving the community for over two decades.
