Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashes Into Summer!
Water Park Opens with a Polar Plunge on Saturday, May 3
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor splashes into a much-anticipated arrival of summer by opening its gates for the 14th season Saturday, May 3. Marking the season opener, the tropical-themed water park will host the third annual early morning Polar Plunge, benefiting Special Olympics, on Saturday, May 3.
Polar Plunge participants will take a dip in the Forgotten Sea Wave Pool at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor and have fun while raising money for the athletes of Special Olympics. The Forgotten Sea is the region's largest body of water with over 480,000 gallons of water with a constant tide of two-foot waves. The Polar Plunge is hosted by Special Olympics Santa Clarita Valley and local Law Enforcement Agencies. Registration for the Polar Plunge opens at 7:00 a.m. and the Plunge begins at 9:00 a.m.
The second annual SUPER Polar Plunge is for a dedicated group of community leaders who will plunge into the Forgotten Sea Wave Pool every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours straight. The SUPER plungers will begin on May 2 at 9:00 a.m. and end with the Polar Plunge on May 3 at 9:00 a.m. All Polar Plunge participants will receive free admission to Hurricane Harbor for the day.
The Six Flags Hurricane Harbor attraction lineup features more than 23 slides and attractions including Tornado, a six-story funnel of fun; Black Snake Summit, with two of the tallest enclosed speed slides in Southern California; Lizard Lagoon, a 7,000 square-foot pool for teen and adult activities; Reptile Ridge high-speed body slide complex; Bamboo Racer, an exciting 45-foot-tall, six-lane racing attraction; plus Paradise Pavilion, a catering site for company and group events and much more.
"Hurricane Harbor provides an extensive combination of thrilling water attractions for the entire family," said Jay Thomas, Park President of Six Flags Magic Mountain & Hurricane Harbor. "With its relaxing tropical theme, it's the perfect summer spot for guests of all ages."
On Tornado, riders are sucked into the beginning of their experience 75 feet in the air by blasting down a 132-foot long tunnel, leading to the mammoth, open-ended funnel. The ride's specially designed 4-person cloverleaf shaped tubes hug the inside of the funnel, splashing back and forth on 5,000 gallons of swirling water. The experience culminates in a waterfall splash, right through the mouth of the funnel into a cool catch pool below. A spectacular viewing platform upon approach lets pending riders and other guests see all of the action up close.
One of the most thrilling attractions in Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is Black Snake Summit, a 75-foot-tall tower featuring five water slides including Twisted Fang and Coiled Cobra both 500 feet long. Bamboo Racer is a unique six-lane racing attraction that places riders head first, side-by-side, on specially designed water toboggans, guests then speed down the 45-foot-tall water slides.
The sprawling 3.2-acre Lizard Lagoon has a tropical beach resort atmosphere featuring adult and teen activities including a three-and-a-half feet deep recreational pool with basketball hoops, water volleyball and comfortable lounge chairs beneath bamboo shade structures and swaying palm trees.
Other park attractions include Taboo Tower with three different body speed slides including Daredevil Plunge; three twisting, turning open tube slides on Lightning Falls; Tiki Falls with three translucent tube slides; Castaway Cove, an exclusive children's water play kingdom; Shipwreck Shores which offers water play activities for the entire family; the Forgotten Sea wave pool; and The River Cruise lazy river.
