September 2012

The Great Escape is terrified to announce the highly anticipated Fright Fest presented by Snickers®, a frightfully fun Halloween festival featuring ghouls, monsters and petrifying scares around every corner. This year the horrific month kicks off with the first ever Zombie Run 5K. Racers have one goal in this monster infested 5K benefitting the American Red Cross – DON’T DIE. Also, all-new in 2012, the Saloon of Darkness Haunted Maze in Ghost Town will provide over 500 feet of blinded mayhem for guests who dare to take their turn. Fright Fest is featured Saturdays and Sunday, October 6- 28 and Monday, October 8.

This year the Great Escape introduces the Zombie Run 5K in which participants will run for their lives from Zombies around every corner. Successful finishers will keep their lives and win great prizes. Proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross Adirondack Saratoga Chapter. The brand new Saloon of Darkness features over ten minutes of pitch dark terror as guests wind their way through screams and frights. The new haunted attraction is located in the historic Red Garter Saloon in Ghost Town.

Sixteen Halloween-themed shows and attractions await guests during Fright Fest’s 14th season. By day, families can enjoy favorites like the Trick-or-Treat Trail, Funky Frankenstein musical, Scream and Costume Contests, Incredible Larry’s Magic Show and more. Guests can also enjoy the park’s famous line-up of great rides including Comet, Thunder Alley, Sasquatch and Boomerang.

After 4 pm, the park transitions to “Fright by Night” and is not recommended for children under 12 and those who scare easily. Scream-seekers can expect spine tingling shows like The Awakening, Dead Man’s Party, Curse of Madame Divine and Witch Hanging.

Haunted attractions and scare zones like the 13 room Skull Manor, Malice in Wonderland and the all-new Saloon of Darkness feature midway-roaming zombies hunting for their next meal.
