The Great Escape Promises Hair Raising Fun

The Longest Season in history begins Saturday, May 9

The Great Escape, the premiere destination for affordable family fun, kicks off a new season of thrills and quality family entertainment on Saturday, May 9 at 10AM. The park is poised for its longest season in history with seven new shows, exciting new food offerings and the debut of the beast they call Sasquatch. Top-tier entertainment and guest benefits ensure a value-packed experience for the entire family. Major headlines this season include:

  • Sasquatch-presented by Jack Link's - The all new Sasquatch drop ride will be unveiled to the public on Opening Day. Standing at 192 feet tall, Sasquatch will shoot riders 19 stories in the air in three seconds before plummeting them back to earth in a series of air cushioned bounces. The initial power blast creates a force on the rider of 4.5 G. Sasquatch is the tallest ride at the park and stands as an iconic symbol of the park's presence in the North Country. A perfect complement to two children's themed areas, a full water park and one of the top rated wooden coasters in the country, Sasquatch adds to the all around family fun at The Great Escape.

  • Redefining Dining - The Great Escape is redefining the in- park dining experience with a variety of new food options for the whole family. Restaurants exhibiting creativity and showmanship highlight the 2009 offerings. The newly renovated Alpine Fest Haus features new show grills, Papa John's pizza, a variety of beverage options and live air-conditioned entertainment. The sizzling sounds and enticing aroma of fresh fajitas, chicken and pulled pork will delight families as they visit the all new Skillet Market located in the Fest Area. Splashwater Kingdom visitors will also appreciate the addition of a new Papa John's location in the water park this year.

  • Entertainment at its Finest - The Great Escape has a dynamic entertainment schedule planned for the 2009 season. The year will debut seven new shows including Retro Rock, The Best of Dick Clark's Bloopers- featuring a live host and Mr. Six Dance Party. Mr. Six — the ageless, dancing, rater-of-fun will be in park all season long showing off his signature dance moves, posing for pictures, and beckoning guests to have More Flags More Fun.

  • The Great Escape Emporium - The Great Escape's Exit Shop has been transformed into the brand new Great Escape Emporium. Families will be able to wander through brightly colored themed retail areas, sure to find the perfect memory of their day at The Great Escape.

  • Holiday in the Park - New to The Great Escape in 2009, Holiday in the Park stretches the season to make it the longest on record. Thousands of twinkling lights, holiday themed shows, traditional foods and our very own snow hill transform the park into a winter wonderland. Beginning November 20, this exciting addition will be a celebration of the many winter holidays.
