Six Flags Great America Kicks Off a Thrilling 2012 Season

Opening Weekend Celebrates 20th Anniversary of BATMAN: The Ride with $20.00 Ticket

Six Flags Great America welcomes guests to its 36th thrilling season with an opening weekend celebration, presented by Lowes. 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of BATMAN: The Ride, the world's first inverted roller coaster. The park is marking the anniversary with a special opening day ceremony and discounted admission. In honor of the 20th anniversary, fans can purchase a $20 ticket online valid for opening weekend, May 5 and 6.

Built in 1992, BATMAN: The Ride travels through 2,700 feet of track at top speeds of 55 mph. The iconic coaster takes riders through two vertical loops, two corkscrews and a zero-gravity heartline spin, all in just two minutes. The inverted coaster, located in the Yankee Harbor area of the park, has delivered over 26 million rides since it opened.

New in 2012, from the same makers of BATMAN: The Ride, Six Flags Great America welcomes X Flight, a ground-breaking wing coaster with no track above or below. One of the first wing coasters in the world, riders sit in pairs suspended on either side of the track with their feet dangling through 3,000 feet of twisted steel, five inversions and extreme fly-throughs. Enjoy X Flight all season long with a Season Pass now on sale for $64.99 for four or more. Season Pass holders will also get a sneak preview of X Flight May 12-13. The wing coaster opens to the public on Wednesday, May 16.

Six Flags Great America is located between Chicago and Milwaukee and offers fun for the entire family with 14 heart-pounding roller coasters, a FREE water park, spectacular shows and three children's areas.
