August at Six Flags Features Zombie Apocalypse,
Pat Benatar Concert, Caribbean Festival and
FDNY Day with Gary Sinese Concert
Six Flags Great Adventure will please a wide variety of audiences this August with a Zombie Takeover, Pat Benatar concert, two-day Caribbean Concert Festival, and FDNY Appreciation Day with Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band.
Zombie Takeover August 4
A zombie apocalypse is coming to Six Flags Great Adventure August 4 for the first-annual Zombie Takeover presented by the NJ Zombie Walk.
More than one thousand are expected to dress up in their best zombie gear, participate in a Zombie Parade at 8 p.m. and have exclusive access to ride certain coasters until midnight. There will also be a “Z” Factor zombie show at 4 p.m. where guests can show off their acting skills and even audition for Fright Fest.
A meal ticket can be purchased in advance for a “pre-apocalypse meal,” an all-you-can-eat buffet, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the catered picnic grove. During this time, professional artists will be available to do zombie makeup for an additional fee.

Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo Concert August 11
‘80s rock stars Pat Benatar and husband Neil Giraldo will perform live in concert at Six Flags Great Adventure August 11 at 7 p.m. in the Northern Star Arena. The concert is presented by parx casino® and guests will enjoy the show free with theme park admission or season pass.
Pat Benatar, popular rock singer and four-time Grammy winner, is best known for her hit singles “Love is a Battlefield” and “Hit Me with Your Best Shot.” Benatar has two multi-platinum albums, five platinum albums, three gold albums and 19 Top 40 singles.
Giraldo is Benatar’s lead guitarist and has composed and produced much of her work. Before touring with Benatar, he also performed in Rick Derringer’s touring band. Giraldo was one of the first guitarists to appear on MTV.
Six Flags Caribbean Concert Series Two-Day Event:
Fusion Saturday at Hurricane Harbor and Reggae Festival Sunday at Great Adventure
The Six Flags Caribbean Concert Series will host a two day event August 11 and 12 featuring today’s hit Caribbean and Urban performers. Each concert day requires a separate admission ticket.
The Six Flags Caribbean Concert Series kicks off August 11 at Hurricane Harbor. With an exciting lineup of soca and urban fusion performers, guests will enjoy 12 hours of non-stop entertainment at Hurricane Harbor. This year’s featured performer is Fabolous, a popular rapper, known for his hit singles “Can’t Deny It” and “Young’n (Hollaback).”
The festivities continue August 12 at Six Flags Great Adventure with a lineup of Caribbean and reggae singers. Featured performers include dancehall favorites Mavado and I-Octane, and legendary reggae singer Barrington Levy.

FDNY Appreciation Day featuring Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band August 18
Six Flags Great Adventure will host Fire Department of New York (FDNY) Appreciation Day August 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. with exclusive offers and activities for FDNY members and their families. Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will also perform live at 7 p.m. in the Northern Star Arena. The concert is open to all guests and is included with theme park admission or season pass.
All FDNY employees with FDNY ID and their families can purchase half-price tickets at $30.99. Admission includes the Lt. Dan Band Concert and one hour of exclusive riding time for FDNY members and families from 9:30 a.m. –10:30 a.m. on SkyScreamer and other attractions in the theme park’s newest area, Adventure Alley. Other activities include an FDNY-led parade, FDNY merchandise and an FDNY pre-concert program at 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the FDNY Foundation.
Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actor Gary Sinise is notable for his performances in Of Mice and Men, Truman and CSI: New York, and perhaps most memorably as Lt. Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump. Sinese, a guitarist, founded the Lt. Dan Band named after his movie character with Kimo Williams in 2003. The Lt. Dan Band went on its first overseas United Services Organization (USO) tour in 2004 to perform for troops. The band plays 30 to 40 shows each year, mostly for the USO, charities or benefits. The Lt. Dan Band covers both classic and contemporary songs.
