German Ride Enthusiasts, Animal Adventure Camp and Craft Beer Festival Headline June News at Six Flags Great Adventure

German Ride Enthusiasts Will Conquer Six Flags' Top-Ranked Scream Machines June 12
More than 50 members of a German amusement park enthusiast club will visit Six Flags Great Adventure June 12 to conquer the park’s world-famous lineup of thrill rides including three of the world’s top five roller coasters.

Freundeskreis Kirmes und Freizeitparks (FKF), Germany's oldest amusement park enthusiast organization, consists of more than 600 members, most coming from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands.  Several times each year, the FKF organizes events and meetings at public festivals and in theme parks.  Their visit to Six Flags Great Adventure is part of their United States east coast tour that
includes a total of 20 parks, and is their first visit to the Jackson, New Jersey theme park.

“In Great Adventure, we are particularly looking forward to riding Kingda Ka and El Toro. The latter one is the favorite wooden coaster of many fans, so our members are eager to find out if it will storm their top ten, too,” said German enthusiast Tim Herre, FKF’s event organizer.  Kingda Ka ranks as the tallest coaster in the world at 45 stories, and the second fastest in the world as it catapults riders from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds.  El Toro was named the world’s No. 1 wooden coaster for 2011 and boasts the steepest drop of any wooden coaster in the world at 76 degrees.

According to Herre, members excitedly look forward to their time on the park’s thrilling coasters, which also include the world’s No. 3 steel coaster, Nitro, and other popular coasters such as GREEN LANTERN, BIZARRO, SUPERMAN-Ultimate Flight and BATMAN The Ride.

Animal Adventure Camp Begins Fourth Season
Six Flags Great Adventure and Wild Safari’s Animal Adventure Camp is an exciting, week-long program that provides up-close animal experiences for children age 5 to 13. Through classroom instruction, guest speakers and interactive activities, campers learn about and care for a variety of interesting animals. In its fourth year, Animal Adventure Camp continues to expand and will provide over 250 children with the experience of a lifetime.

Dave Peranteau, supervisor of animal education at Six Flags Great Adventure & Wild Safari, describes the camp as, “unique in that campers and animals interact each day. Kids who love animals and science experience a range of activities that can’t be duplicated anywhere.”
Children are introduced to animals from six continents including giraffes, elephants, rabbits, pigs and exotic snakes. The park’s professional animal experts provide instruction, ensure safety and personal attention.

There are nine week-long sessions from June 25 to August 24. For more information and pricing, call 732-928-2000 ext. 2076 or visit www.sixflags.com/greatAdventure/events/AdventureCamp.

Brew Ha Ha Craft Beer Festival and Comedy Show
Six Flags Great Adventure will host its first Brew Ha Ha Craft Beer Festival and comedy show June 30.  Thirty breweries will be located in the Old County Picnic Grove where guests will enjoy various beers produced regionally, nationally and internationally.

“While most people are familiar with the growing national craft beer landscape, many are not aware of the growth taking place locally and an event like this brings both realities to attention,” stated John Merklin, owner of East Coast Beer Company located in Point Pleasant.

The emphasis will be on local brews and guests will be invited to vote for their favorite New Jersey beer. The comedy show, presented by NJ 101.5 FM, will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature comedians Carl Labove and local favorite Uncle Floyd.

The festival will run from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. with early entry benefits for season pass holders from 3 to 3:30 p.m. A variety of ticket packages are available including discounts for season pass holders. Guests must be at least 21 years old with a valid ID to enter. To purchase tickets and or more information visit www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/events/BeerFest.
