Six Flags Great Adventure Celebrates The Fourth of July
With A Bang
The premier of 'Saturday Night Lights' fireworks extravaganza and a performance by LeAnn Rimes will captivate guests this Independence Day
Six Flags Great Adventure will captivate guests this July 4 with thrilling rides, a live concert by country music sensation LeAnn Rimes and the debut of one of the most dynamic, astounding fireworks series in the company's history, "Saturday Night Lights."
"Forget your idea of a traditional fireworks show, this is like nothing you've experienced before," said Mark Kane, president of Six Flags Great Adventure. "Saturday Night Lights will knock your socks off and undoubtedly be one of the most amazing fireworks series in the country. It will be the 'must see' event of 2009."
Six Flags Great Adventure will bring to life a five-act production combining pounding rock 'n roll energy with a dazzling firework spectacle guaranteed to bring guests to their feet. The production will run 10 consecutive Saturday nights at 10 p.m. over the Great Lake beginning this Fourth of July and culminate Sept. 5, Labor Day weekend, immediately following the nightly "Glow in the Park" parade.
With its classic, pulsating rhythms, "Saturday Night Lights" will feature decades of popular rock music with a special nod to New Jersey rock n' roll favorites. This innovative use of pyrotechnics will be set against the backdrop of the park's picturesque Great Lake. Guests of all ages will be amazed by this unique visualization of music as each note is brought to life through a carefully orchestrated series of pyro combustions and explosions.
LeAnn Rimes Live in Concert
Before the fireworks, guests can catch country music sensation LeAnn Rimes in the Northern Star arena at 6:30 p.m. Rimes has been singing and performing since she was only two years old and in 1997, at the age of fourteen, she won two Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, making her the youngest artist ever to win a Grammy award. Her album Blue was released in 1996 and featured the No. 1 hit "One Way Ticket (Because I Can)."
Rimes' third studio album You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums charts. Rimes 2002 follow up Twisted Angel featured a more pop-oriented sound than her previous albums. The album featured the hit singles, "Life Goes On," and "Suddenly." Rimes has also been featured on film soundtracks including Coyote Ugly, Driven, Con Air, Evan Almighty, Legally Blond 2: Red White and Blond and View From the Top.
Rimes' most recent album Family features the hit singles, "Nothin' Better to Do" and Grammy nominated song "What I Cannot Change." Throughout her career Rimes has released 15 albums with combined sales in excess of 14 million units sold.
Guests will not only enjoy a live concert and a breathtaking fireworks display; they will also enjoy the 100th run-through of the 'Glow in the Park' nighttime parade this Independence Day weekend. Guests will have the chance to see the all-new elaborate float showcasing Kingda Ka, Big Wheel and Mr. Six. Families will watch in awe as drummers, puppeteers, singers, dancers and kinetic stilt walkers create a nighttime spectacular in this uniquely-themed parade produced by the renowned Gary Goddard Entertainment group.
