Six Flags Friends will Help Spread "Hope for the Holidays"
Six Flags will also launch a nationwide annual Day of Service -
"Project 6"

Six Flags Great Adventure will open its gates to the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots, Friday, November 13, 2009 and will ask guests to open their hearts, embrace the Holiday spirit and help families in their own neighborhoods.  The organizations will work together to unite the community in the first annual Six Flags Friends Hope for the Holidays charity event.  Guests will have the chance to help those in need and enjoy local festivities from 5 - 7 p.m. at the theme park.

The event will feature exclusive rides on Kingda Ka, boardwalk style games and meet & greet opportunities with NHL Stanley Cup winner Jim Dowd and the Lakewood Blue Claws' official mascot - Buster.  Additional festivities will include local radio station broadcasts and complimentary snacks and hot beverages.  Admission is free for those guests who make a donation of winter clothing, blankets or shoes in good condition, a new unwrapped toy or a non-perishable food item.

Guests who do not wish to make a material donation may still enjoy the festivities by making a monetary donation of $5.

Project 6
Six Flags mobilizes workforce to lend a helping hand

Friday, November 13, 2009 will also mark the launch of Project 6, the company's first annual Day of Service.  Over 4,000 Six Flags employees across The United States, Mexico and Canada will set out as a unified front into their local neighborhoods to spearhead and participate in volunteer projects aimed at improving the overall quality of life for those in need.  In just one business day, Six Flags will donate more than 28,000 hours of service.

Project 6 initiatives will vary by park, but the overall mission will be executed with Six Flags style and will channel the parks' unique assets to make a difference.  This first annual Day of Service will infuse the thrill of Six Flags throughout the community by hand delivering smiles to those in need this holiday season.

All local volunteer initiatives will benefit organizations dedicated to the needs of children and families, public welfare or environmental issues.  Six Flags Great Adventure's full-time workforce includes approximately 160 people who will volunteer their time with the following organizations:

  • Monmouth & Ocean County Food Banks
  • Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry & Homeless Shelters
  • Monmouth County SPCA
  • American Red Cross
  • Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Ocean County
  • City of Belmar Beach Clean-up
  • Dottie's House
  • Children's Specialized Hospital of New Brunswick
  • HomeFront

According to The Corporation for National & Community Service, as the economy slows and non-profit organizations struggle to provide services, volunteers have become even more vital to the health of our nation's communities.  Six Flags will provide a realistic solution for many of these organizations.
