Six Flags Great Adventure and MGM Studios Host FAME National Talent Search August 8 and 9
One Talented Performer Will Get a Chance at FAME During Auditions at Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Great Adventure will be the fourth stop on the FAME National Talent Search multi-city tour August 8 and 9. Six Flags and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios have teamed up for the release of FAME, a re-invention of the original Oscar winning film and in conjunction with the release are hosting a competition open to singers, dancers, musicians and other performers seeking their big break. The FAME National Talent Search will visit six of the Six Flags Theme Parks throughout the country choosing one winner from each who will then head to California for a final round of competition and possibly their ticket to stardom. The Grand Prize includes an exclusive meeting with a Hollywood talent agent and studio executive, a photo spread in OK! Magazine and much more.
Registration for the Six Flags Great Adventure auditions on August 8 will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or until up to a total of 400 qualifying registrants have signed up. Participants must be 14 years of age or older and may register individually or with up to eight members as a group. Performers, who are unable to attend or are not one of the first 400 to register, may join the online competition by submitting their audition tape at www.myspace.com/fame, where one national finalist will also be selected. Auditions will take place throughout the day with the top 10 acts advancing to the semi-finals on Sunday, August 9. The semi-finals at Six Flags Great Adventure will also include a special performance by V-Factory featuring FAME's Asher Book who plays "Marco," a charismatic singer pursuing his dream.
During the semi-finals, the top 10 performers will share their talent once more for a panel of celebrity judges. Of those talented 10, only one will advance to the final round of competition held at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California in September where seven finalists will compete for the ultimate chance at fame. The grand prize winner will win a $5,000 cash prize, a photo spread in OK! Magazine, a 5 day/4 night trip to Hollywood, a meeting with a top talent agent and studio executive, and inclusion of their winning live performance in the FAME DVD.
Audition Details
The 400 registrants will have forty-five seconds to do one of the following: (A) sing one song a capella live; (B) perform a live dance routine to a segment of the "Fame" motion picture theme song or "Out Here On My Own," from the film's soundtrack; (C) perform any other activity that shows talent in the performing arts (i.e., telling jokes, reciting a story, playing an instrument, etc.). All performance acts must be suitable for a public forum. The Fame Theme Song and "Out Here On My Own" may be downloaded free of charge at www.myspace.com/fame.
