Six Flags Discovery Kingdom hiring for 2012 operating season
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will host its annual Job Fair on Saturday,
February 11, 2012. With an approaching 2012 season opening date scheduled for March 17, the park – one of the largest employers in Solano County - has been ramping up its hiring efforts to fill up to 1,400 positions for the season. As a change from the 400 hired at this time last season, more than 500 are expected to be hired during the one-day job fair.
The job fair will take place at the University of Phoenix in Fairfield from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To be eligible for interviews that day, interested individuals ages 16 and over must apply online (sixflagsjobs.com) prior to the event.
While online, applicants can review the various positions available. These range from seasonal admissions and guest relations staff, food services, retail, ride operators, games staff, warehouse and entertainment hosts. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom human resources representatives have begun the process of scheduling interviews based on these applications.
“We’ve had a tremendous amount of interest for the upcoming season,” said
Kim Beiner, Director of Administration and Human Resources. “This is a great place to work when it comes to camaraderie, a rewarding atmosphere and of course, meeting new people all of the time.”
Candidates attending the job fair will be able to interview with park representatives on the same day. Individuals unable to come to the job fair are also eligible for interviews conducted at the park in a unique and innovative group hiring process. In effect, prospects interviewing for specific positions are grouped together where they participate in games and interact with one another. This process helps to reveal how well individuals work together and engage.
“Our goal is to hire individuals that will fulfill our mantra, that being friendly, clean, fast and safe service,” said Beiner. “Guests want to experience a clean and safe environment, and their impressions that come from our friendly staff make a difference in their visit.”
The Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Job Fair will take place at the University of Phoenix, 5253 Business Center Drive, Ste. B, in Fairfield on Saturday, February 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom’s 2012 season starts on Saturday, March 17. The park will operate on weekends through March 25 with Friday dates starting
April 20. Daily operating dates for Spring Break is March 31 through April 15; Fridays and weekend dates from April 20 to May 20. Daily summer operating dates run May 25 through August 19. The park will thereafter be open weekends and select Friday dates until October 20. The park reopens for its Holiday in the Park event on weekends and select daily operating hours from November 23 through January 6, 2013.
