SEE RESCUED SEA LION, SGT. NEVIS, IN HIS NEW HOME
AT SIX FLAGS DISCOVERY KINGDOM
650-lb. sea lion fits right in after rehabilitation of gunshot wound
| WHAT: | A news conference will be held at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to announce the debut of “Sgt. Nevis”, the sea lion shot in the face by a fisherman in the Sacramento River last November, then rescued and rehabilitated by The Marine Mammal Center. The 650-lb. adult male sea lion makes his new home in the park’s Seal Cove exhibit, where he will reside with several other sea lions and harbor seals. Though not immediately noticeable, visible will be the wounds inflicted when multiple bullets penetrated the area under his eyes. Park veterinary and marine mammal staff continues to monitor and treat his injury for infection. Guests will be able to see Sgt. Nevis during park operating hours. He has integrated well with his new companions and continues to impress staff with his resiliency. |
