Fourth Annual Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will present its fourth annual Holiday in the Park event, the biggest holiday celebration in Northern California. The Land, Sea and Sky areas of the park will be transformed into Land, Sea and SNOW, with Blitzen’s Wonderland Mountain presented by Diamond Peak, a giant snow hill, the display of a spectacular 65-foot tall Christmas tree and millions of twinkling lights. Holiday in the Park will be open weekends beginning Friday, November 26 through December 12 and daily from December 18 thru January 2, 2010 (closed December 24 and 25).
Themed holiday wonderlands feature life-sized toys, non-stop entertainment and festive areas to get everyone into the holiday spirit. Among the myriad of Holiday in the Park offerings are Santa’s Workshop, where kids get their holiday photo taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus; follow through Candy Cane Lane, a canopy of larger-than-life candy canes and lollipops; meet an enormous Nutcracker soldier, teddy bear and other giant-sized toys in Toy Land; stroll through the fragrant aroma of Christmas Tree Forest, and meet a reindeer or two at the charming Reindeer Village. There’s also everyone’s favorite snowman, Frosty the Snowman, in his own Winter Wonderland.
The entertainment lineup features an array of holiday-themed wildlife shows including Dream, starring Shouka, the killer whale; Super Spirited Sea Lions Save Christmas, and A Dolphin Holiday, plus Bugs Bunny and friends sing out in the Looney Tunes Xmas Karaoke and the new showstopper Holiday Express, with singers belting out favorite festive holiday tunes. Each night, guests can watch the nightly tree lighting ceremony.
Along with traditional photos with Santa Claus, the park this year is offering, on a limited basis, a chance for families to have their holiday photo stand out from the pack: a photo taken with one of the park’s elephants in a festive setting. A special Kodak photo package is being made available that will include holiday photo cards. Interested parties are encouraged to book online in advance to ensure availability as the elephant photo shoot will only take place between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. each operating day.
In addition to the holiday happenings, guests can also enjoy a wide variety of holiday fare, including roasted chestnuts, hot cocoa and eggnog plus thrill to the best of the park’s rides and attractions that includes roller coasters Medusa, Roar, Kong and Cobra. For the kids, E. Ben Geezer, the talking puppet, will entertain.
