Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is pleased to announce the birth of Mavrick, our newest Atlantic bottlenose dolphin calf.  Proud parents are 28-year-old Chelsea and 21-year-old Merlin.  This is their second calf together, bringing the total number of dolphins at the park to 13.

Mavrick was born on October 27, 2007.  After completing the mandatory waiting period, he is now able to meet the public for the first time.

Mavrick, named for the independence he has displayed since he was a few weeks old, often swims away from Mom to explore the depths of his home.

See Mavrick along with his mother and two unrelated friends, two-year-old Mattie and 21-year-old Jasmine, who share the Dolphin Discovery area when Six Flags Discovery Kingdom opens weekends starting March 8.  Watch Mavrick grow from a calf to an adventurous young dolphin.  He will continue to nurse over the next two years.
