Six Flags America Announces FRIGHT FEST Presented by SNICKERS®

The Biggest, Scariest Halloween Event in Maryland

Six Flags America is preparing to unleash the largest, scariest Halloween event in the region. Fright Fest Presented by Snickers® delivers Thrills by Day and Fright by Night, with 20 spookactular Halloween attractions and the park’s signature collection of  monster coasters, including this year’s fiery success, APOCALYPSE-The Last Stand.

Thrills by Day offers a festive Fall Harvest atmosphere , with  friendly ghosts and goblins and family-friendly attractions including: Hilltop Gardens Maze, Monster Mash Bash, Kids Halloween Dance Party and Stage Fright, featuring the magic of Joe Romano. Little guests, under 54 inches are invited to enjoy the park in costume and take part in the Halloween Kids Costume Contest held each Saturday and Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

When the clock strikes 6 p.m. the park goes dark – as in creepy, crawly, scary dark. Beware of the Awakening, which launches Fright by Night and transforms the park into a wicked hunting ground for the undead. This year Fright by Night boasts more than thirteen attractions with six all-new shows and events; Blood Factory, The Ravage: Stunt Massacre, Toxic Fallout, Road Rage Cage, Stage Fright, and Zombieville.  Back by popular demand is Blackwoods Bloodshed, Dead Man’s Party, Bridge of Terror, Terror Twister, Ghost Town, Carn-EVIL and Roach Wheel of Horror.

“Fright Fest is one of our favorite productions of the year,” said David Major, entertainment manager for Six Flags America. “We’re able to showcase the high-level of talent at Six Flags America and provide our guests with the ultimate scare experience. Since May we’ve been in pre-production for 20-plus shows and events. Blood Factory, this year’s major extreme new scare, is a steam punk themed, turn of the century attraction which will take terror to an all new level.”

Also back by popular demand - the Cockroach Eating Contest. On Saturday, October 13 and 27, . three lucky Guests will spin the Roach Wheel of Horror to determine if they will eat between one to four live Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Those who can choke down the creepy, crawly creatures within the designated time will win a variety of prizes, including a 2013 Season Pass.

“This year’s cockroach eating contest will be hosted by Pat LoJack and his lovey assistant Vanna Pyre,” said Linda Jensen, marketing director for Six Flags America. “Think Wheel of Fortune gone horribly wrong. Last year we introduced the cockroach eating contest and our guests loved it. Watching another person crunch down on a squirming cockroach is both disgusting and exhilarating. It’s a great crowd pleaser. We even provide a variety of toppings like whipped cream or chocolate syrup so the contestants can dress up their cockroaches. It’s going to be fantastic and we can’t wait for this show.”

Fright Fest opens Saturday, September 29 and runs every Saturday and Sunday until October 28 with special Friday openings on October 19 and 26 at 5 p.m. for Fright by Night only. Many of the Fright by Night events are rated Three Skulls and are not recommended for guests under 13-years old.
