Six Flags America Celebrates Cinco de Mayo With Musical Sensation Toby Love, Mariachi Aguila, Food Trucks, and More
On May 5, 2013, Six Flags America will celebrate Cinco de Mayo, presented by Ortega®, with an impressive lineup of entertainment, games, prizes, food and a special Coasters After Dark ride time. The park has been collaborating with Univision in Washington DC to bring the hottest live entertainment to the first annual Cinco de Mayo festival at Six Flags America.
Musical sensation Toby Love, a native of Puerto Rico, will perform live with his unique style of bachata music combining traditional and urban singing. In early April Love’s single, Todo Mi Amor Eres Tu (I Just Can’t Stop Loving You) hit number one on Billboards Tropical Songs. Love and his band will perform at Celebration Stage from 3:45-5 p.m.
There will be a fun filled Fiesta Hour sponsored by Ortega® where guests will participate in games, activities and trivia, winning special Cinco de Mayo prizes and giveaways. Ortega® will also host a social media Taco Authentico game where participants identify the “authentic” Mexican item verses the pretend one. Guests will have unique photo opportunities to dress up in sombreros, ponchos and fake mustaches for memorable pictures.
The day would not be complete without Mariachi Aguila, Washington DC’s premier mariachi, a six piece ensemble. Mariachi Aguila was formed in May 1998 by a group of local musicians who shared a love for the excitement, brilliance, and drama of mariachi. They will welcome guests on Main Street at 11 a.m. and then perform live at Celebration Stage 2 p.m.
In between the live performances by Tony Love and Mariachi Aguila a talented group of local folklore dancers will entertain guests with dance routines particular to Mexico and Latin countries at 3 p.m.
For an added thrill for the taste buds several food trucks will join this exciting day to serve up authentic, fresh and delicious food. Guests will enjoy tasty dishes from BBQ Bus, a roaming restaurant dishing up great BBQ & comfort food classics, A Lo Cubano serving up both authentic and modern Cuban cuisine to the hungry masses, Borinquen Lunchbox, the first food truck serving authentic home cooking Puerto Rican Cuisine and DC Empanadas, made only with the freshest, local and top quality ingredients.
The thrill of riding a coaster is always heightened after the sun goes down. The park will stay open 30 minutes later for guests to participate in Coasters After Dark. Guests should go online to sixflags.com/cincodemayo to print a PDF voucher which can be exchanged for a wristband allowing them to ride SUPERMAN, Ride of Steel or Batwing starting at 7 p.m.
