Tony Hawk's Halfpipe Opens Exclusively at Six Flags America

New Waterslide Highlights Season of Family Thrills and Fun

Six Flags America invites everyone to "skate the wake" as it opens the first-ever Tony Hawk's Halfpipe Saturday, May 24 with the 2008 opening of its Hurricane Harbor water park.  This edgy waterslide, branded after the superstar skateboarder for its resemblance to a skateboarding halfpipe, offers a new form of watery thrills for the entire family.

"We have an outstanding water park in Hurricane Harbor with experiences that range from relaxing and refreshing to thrilling and exciting," said Six Flags America park president Chris Haenn. "Adding Tony Hawk's Halfpipe takes
Hurricane Harbor up a notch on the thrill-side while also appealing to families who like to ride together — it has appeal for both young and old and Tony Hawk is a brand in which our park is more than happy to be associated."

Tony Hawk's Halfpipe stands four stories tall and sends guests flying down one side of the "ramp" and up the other vertically on one and two person inner tubes.  This water slide allows riders to experience on water what skateboarders experience on dry land: zero gravity. As riders go barreling down one part of the ramp toward the other end, they will experience the sensation that their speed plus their own weight may possibly carry them over the edge.
